XP - Our Home Water Birth :)

Our baby girl, Mia Joan was born on Monday April 22nd (41w1d) at 9:48pm, weighing 9lbs 8oz and 21" long. Water broke at 4:30pm Monday evening, contractions started at 5:30pm, baby was born 4 hours later! Midwives and doula almost did not make it to our home in time!

We were able to have the home water birth that we hoped for, and no meds were used in the delivery of this big girl! I cannot recommend birthing in water enough - no tears were sustained in the delivery of this chubbster and recovery has been going very well (aside from feeling like I was hit by a truck the next day - I feel 75% back to normal!) Now I know where the term "aqua-dural" comes from, it really does soothe and take the edge off of the whole process!

Milk came in last night after a rough few nights of not much sleep, and baby Mia is eating like it's going out of style! This girlie had a 7 hour straight sleep last night, which scared us enough to call our midwives at the 5 hour mark who assured us that all was well and baby girl was in a milk coma after a very long feed. Baby is doing great and we are absolutely gaga over her - so so so in love!

Congrats! She is gorgeous! I'm planning to be at home with this one too, so it's especially encouraging to hear stories like this! I guess I need to seriously try for a water birth too
