Birthday outfit

Just came back empty handed from birthday outfit shopping....we haven't told friends and it's def hard to hide it belly sticking out. I am not ready for maternity wear yet....but I am pretty obvious in my current clothes :/.
Wide blouses are not my thing, I was hoping for a tunic or something....

    No offense, but how obvious can you really be at 8 weeks. The baby is the size of a rasberry. I know bloat can make a "bump" but a flowy, loose top should hide that no problem. Good luck and happy birthday.

    Yeah, your clothes are too tight to begin with if you can't hide it at 8 weeks. It's basically like a fat day, not pregnancy right now.

    I had that prob at 8 weeks - but I'm having twins - so I can't comment on whether or not the same would hold true for a singleton pregnancy.  All I can say is, all bodies are different - and I know how hard it is to go clothes shopping to come home empty handed b/c you didn't like the way things fit.  Sorry that was your Saturday!!

    I would rather buy pregnancy clothes than a larger size :P

    I am 6 weeks and I already can't fit into my jeans. I am extremely short and pregnancy gets me all over. Just body types I suppose.

    Everyone's body is different and while I looked the same at 8 weeks w my first, I was/am much more obvious with #2 and 3. Yeahflowy top was enough but like pp said, it's not her style. My stomach is usually very flat and my regular going out tops are fitted. They don't look good now. I understand where she's coming from

    Me too. Fortunately, I went straight from grotesquely bloated to bump bc it's twins! LOL But I had the same problem with my first two. The nice thing about maternity jeans is that it gives a smooth appearance. Wearing regular jeans gives me a wicked muffin top right now. Chances are if you tried maternity jeans with any top you would feel better. Wear a cardigan over it and you'll be fine.

    Go with a cute dress! Empire waist or a bubble hem will cover any belly. Throw some high heels on, and you'll be smoking hot!

    Thank you to all that had suggestions! I did end up going with a dress and heels.

    This is my second pregnancy and things expanded much faster this time in the belly area. Raspberry or not, it it were only the baby we were all caring we'd all gain 9 lbs max.
