Laundry detergent

Sorry, I know this was posted before, but I went back a few pages and couldn't find it.. I was wondering if you really need to use the dreft detergent, or just any hypoallergenic detergent for washing baby's clothes? Does it make a difference? We currently use the All brand that is dye and fragrance free??

Re: Laundry detergent

  • There's a lot of chemicals in Dreft. We use Honest Detergent and its great to launder baby clothes too. It will just cut some of the drama out of extra laundry:)

  • I was just wondering about this myself. I was washing some new crib sheets and blankets this morning with Gain. I didn't think about it until after the fact that I should be using something else.

I am a FTM but I have been reading about this a lot since both hubs and I have had reactions to some detergents before and I have heard that even dreft has caused babies to have breakouts. We use method free and clear and any free and clear detergent should be fine.

    This.
  • I'm pretty sure Dreft is marketed to paranoid parents, just like I saw gallons of "nursery water" at BBB today...  If it works for you now, it will probably also be fine for LO. Just stick with your current projects until you have an issue. :O)
  • Thanks ladies!
  • I love the way dreft smells so I use it on my clothes I use all free and clear for DH and DS because they both have sensitive skin.

  • I didn't with either of my other 2. I will be using tide with this baby as it is a good recommendation for cloth diapers.

  • I've been told you just want something that doesn't have any harsh chemicals because baby's skin is sensitive so your all should be fine.
  • All free and clear for everyone in our house. We've never had an issue.
  • Dreft is really expensive and completely unnecessary IMO. We use the Tide Free & Clear.
