2nd Trimester

Any STM not feeling movement yet?

I'm 18w1day and I'm not feeling much movement yet, if any. Every now and then I think I feel something, but nothing strong. With my DS I didn't feel anything until 20 weeks, but I've heard that the second time around you feel it sooner.  I'm kind of a "fluffy mamma" , so I have a little more padding, and at my last u/s we saw that my placenta was a little low.  Our anatomy scan is on Monday, I'll see if he/ she is moving a lot. Anybody have experience with this?

Re: Any STM not feeling movement yet?

  • With my second I didn't feel anything until 22 weeks and was concerned because I had herd the same thing. I'm sure everything is fine. I'm on number 4 and didn't really feel movement until 18 weeks and even then it was very little.

  • I just started getting flutters yesterday.  I have an anterior placenta though, and I did the first time, so I wasn't really surprised that it took this long.
  • The first time I felt anything this time was 18w2d. I am 22 weeks and started feeling frequent movement last week.

  • I feel movement on the inside, but nothing really on the outside. With DS1 I felt him at 17 weeks (DH felt at 20), DS2 I felt at 18 weeks (DH felt and 21). With this one DH hasn't felt yet at all. I have only felt a few times from the outside at 23 weeks.

  • I personally don't think it matters how many kids you have. With each baby after your first you are more in tune with your body and have a better ability to distinguish between gas pangs and kicks.
  • I'm a third time mama and didn't feel ANYTHING until 21 weeks.. every pregnancy is different.

  • With both I started to feel movement at about 14 weeks.. but it was just once in a blue moon. Nothing big, nothing constant. They both seemed to do one huge/moment stopping kick at about 15 weeks to let me know they were there and then nothing constant until about 19 weeks. I don't think you should worry constant movement until about 28 weeks or so (if Im remembering correctly).
