Bleeding After Sex

Hello Ladies! I am new on the Bump, due 12-15-2013 with baby #2.

I have been a bit worried. Last night after sex with the Hubby I started to bleed and I have been cramping since (12 hours now).

My OB is closed, there is no on call doctor, and I am waiting for a nurse to call me from the insurance hotline-So I thought I would try here for some support.

Has this been an experience for anyone? Bleeding and cramping after sex? The blood has stopped but my nerves are all in a frenzy. *this never happened with baby #1.

TIA!!

Re: Bleeding After Sex

  • It's totally normal. Your cervix is very sensitive right now so it does not take much to irritate it and cause it to bleed. Don't worry too much, as long as your doctor has not told you to avoid sex you are fine.

  • I heard some bleeding after sex is normal. However, I would look into maybe a new ob if yours doesn't have one on call. what happens when you go into labor and there is no one there to call?

Thanks ladies, I feel a bit better. The nurse from the insurance hotline told me to go to the ER is the cramping does not go away.

And Evolvebaby: That is a good point. I didn't know there wasn't an on call doctor/number until today. The voicemail just tells me to call 911 if there is an emergency. Time to reconsider, I suppose.

  • Hi - I'm due on the same date.  Hubby and I had sex on Sunday night.  Monday I had cramping throughout the day.  Tuesday and Wednesday I had some brown spotting.  Went to the Dr. on Thurs.  They did a scan and everything was fine.  Saw the heart beating!!  First baby so that was exciting for being so early on.  Dr.said that sometimes it has to do with the implantation.  Also, said that our cervix's are very sensitive sometimes.  If it was blood, or anything at all, I would suggest getting it checked out to make sure everything is alright.

    Good Luck!

  • Not that I want everyone to bleed after sex or anything, but it is comforting knowing I am not the only one and that it is normal haha

Being pregnant is so exciting and so scary!
