Hi, I just found out I'm pregnant. ( think I'm about 4 weeks) I don't have health insurance. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best places to go in the northwest suburbs that have a sliding scale fee? Any help would be great.
Both will help you with applying for the state medical card, set you up with WIC, and offer sliding scale if your income is too high and you do not qualify for the state coverage. I started going to Greater Elgin's McHenry walk-in clinic a few years ago when I lost my insurance, and was always very happy with the level of care I received there. Good luck!

yes i agree the mom in previous comment. look for a dhs office! and apply for a medical card its very easy, and you will get it, your pregnant they never turn down an expecting mother! congrats and good luck with that
Look into the moms and babies program. It's a state Medicaid program but if you can get accepted than all your prenatal stuff is covered and your baby will have medical covered for the first year of its life.
I am 11 weeks and do not have insurance. I went to the VNA in aurora to get confirmation. Right then and there rhey set up for Medicaid. Here is the number: 630 8924355.
The head Medicaid woman is named Julie and they have walked me through everything. I have paid for nothing and had several appointments, gone to the ER once and 2 untrasounds already. It also covers dental and general medical care for you, not just prenatal care.
Also you don't have to go there for medical care. I am now using the Medicaid to go to fox valley women's and children st Charles north aurora and I will deliver at delnor...for free.
Re: No insurance
Not sure which suburb you're in, but if you're in the NW or W suburbs, the two that I know about are Greater Elgin Family Care & VNA.
