Need advice

So my son just turned 3 months in Sunday and we are going through some different behavior this last week. He has been a very low key baby, lots if naps during the day, sleeping through the night for some time, a good eater I breastfeed him . All in all a good baby. Well this last week he has pretty much refused to eat. I have to trick him into nursing. He screams and scream when I start to place him the breast. He also is refusing the bottle. Once he starts screaming it can go on for an hour, of non stop screaming. I took him to our dr on Tuesday and they found nothing wrong. But he's really making me nervous that something could be Erin. It is just totally out of character for him. Anyone have a similar situation happen or any ideas of what this could be would be helpful. Our dr has Saturday hours and I think I may bring him back in tomorrow.

Re: Need advice

  • My lo is 3 months now and does the same thing. I have to breastfeed him on a big bouncy ball, in my bathroom with the fan on, or he won't take my boob, he won't take a bottle either. Today was the first day be screamed like I pinched the heak out if him and couldn't calm him.

He has a new cry too. Not sure what it means yet. It sounds more like an older baby cry instead of a little baby cry... I guess.

He gas been super fussy all day, won't reallylet me pit him down.

I've been chalking it up to him teething becauae there isn't any other reason for him to be this fussy.

My lo is usually a very calm baby.

  • Omg I'm not alone! We're here, too. Al of a sudden DD started waking a ton more at night, and that's saying something. Fights naps, fights the boob. Generally happy otherwise, but now I'm wondering if we're all just experiencing variations on a 3 month theme?

  • DD acted out of character for about a week and a half right around the time she turned 3 months. It is a pretty big time for them developmentally. It could also be that he is in the early stages of teething and sucking on a bottle or you is uncomfortable right now.

  • It's probably the 12 week wonder week striking a bit later for your LO. Research wonder weeks and get the book. Babies go through these weeks of difficult behaviors when their go through intense mental development. Their world changes yet again and they get scared and can't cope, so they will not sleep or eat well and will cry a lot. Once they adjust, they will be back to normal and you'll start to see them doings new things. It's really interesting. The book will prepare you for when to expect the next one and what LO will go through plus what toys and games you can use to help them best develop their new skills along the way.

  • My LO has been doing the exact same thing. It is always in the evening where she will fight the boob and sleep. I have to go through a little over a hour of intense screaming. I have just started putting her down in her swing after I exhausted all efforts. She will eventually fall asleep, but wake up in a hour and will then take the boob and fall asleep. I guess it is just growing pains since it seems a lot of 3 months old are going through this.
