Feeling "un-pretty"

We're getting family pics taken this weekend. (Havent had any pics since LO's 3 mo session ..whoops) I don't know what to do with my hair, makeup, nails, what to wear, etc. I totally missed the girly sense I guess because I don't have style to save my life. Thought about maybe having a friend help me with those things for the shoot, but it kind of seems silly to?!

My point being, does anyone else feel "not so pretty" these days? I just want to wear bright red lip stick and high heels and look smokin' hot, but lets face it, my post-partum body doesn't fit into the 'hot' category.

My husband tells me all the time that I'm pretty or compliments me on what I'm wearing, etc but as every woman knows, just because someone says it, doesn't mean you personally believe it.

:: Not sure if this is a vent (haha) or just wanting to hear all of your imput whether you ladies feel the same at times ::

  • I am so with you. I look in the mirror and cringe most days. Nothing has made me feel more like a man than having a baby has :P I try to remember that we tend to be our own worst critics.

  • I am also not feeling great about my body. The last 10-12 lbs won't budge. I think I will only lose the weight when I wean DD.

I want to take mother's day pictures with DD but I don't know what to wear. I asked my husband to nominate me to what not to wear and say I only wear yoga pants and nursing tops LOL.

  • I feel ya. But honestly, it doesn't matter what you wear, how you're manicured or how much weight you lose. I use to be so confident about myself but I think we all lose something after pregnancy. I'm in WAY better shape than I was PP. I get complimented a lot from DH and others but I still don't see or feel it. As moms our mirrors get mean. Which, is odd bc it's the opposite for men. They seem to have magic mirrors that get more magic with age.
  • I'm right there with you! I'm only one pound away from my pre pregnancy weight but I am no where near what I looked like before I pregnancy. I hate the "mom pouch ". I guess I'll really get at it when I'm all done having kids.

  • I lost all my baby weight in the first 8 days and then continued to lose.  I was literally "all baby".  I had gestational diabetes and did my very best to control my sugar while pregnant.  It works great because LO was a health 7lb 13 oz at birth.  That being said, I still feel like crap about myself.  Clothes don't fit the same, I have 1 pair of jeans that I kinda feel comfy wearing.  My hubby got my an elliptical machine because he knows how I feel about myself and have No time for the gym w/ the baby.  He's trying but I have yet to use it.  Ugh.
