Still barely talking

Can anyone commiserate? I've heard it's fairly normal for boys, but it is stressing me out. He has about 4-5 words - mama, dada, nana, bowow, and then he says lala for anything that interests him (no idea why). He's doing great with his other milestones, and I think he is normal developmentally besides this, but it still makes me worry. He's also taken to biting, probably because he's frustrated by his inability to express himself verbally. Fun times.

  • Same here. I was worried the pedi would make a big deal about it at her 18 month appt, but she really didn't. I've heard they may have a language explosion closer to 2 anyway. She says mama, dada, uh oh, wow, ooh, and babbles/talks constantly they're j

  • DS isn't talking either. Like hardly at all. He says dada, but that's about it. He says uh oh and wow sometimes, but those are really infrequent too. A few months ago he was saying mama and dog infrequently, but hasn't said either since.

  • DS just had a huge vocabulary burst, but is behind in some other areas (growing). When I worked for a 0-3 year old early head start program we used the ASQ and ASQ-SE forms to identify any possible concerns for each child.
