We skipped it. I didn't feel like doing it and my dad is incredibly shy and would have hated it. He also didn't walk me down the aisle. He was happy with that too.
Growing up my dad and I watched Armegeddon every Saturday. It was our movie. So when I was looking for a song for my dad and I to dance to, I of course picked Aerosmith "don't wanna miss a thing". We had a huge falling out a few months before my wedding. He wasn going to come. Fast forward to a week before the wedding and he calls me and says he will be there. We made up the night before, had my grandpa and my dad walk me down the aisle and then surprised him with the song. He was overcome with joy. Our relationship has never been stronger since.
So... It is making me crazy that I only got married 10 months ago and I cannot remember what I danced to with my dad. I am a horrible daughter! I think it was Frank Sinatra, but as soon as I get home, I am all over my google spreadsheet to find out!
My dad picked out "the way you look tonight", sung by James Taylor our favorite songwriter and performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra we're both music nerds.
And he sang it to me while we danced. Bump smiley face
Am I horrible if I don't remember the song!?!? OMG! I'm a crappy kid.
I am literally reading this thread to see if any of the songs ring a bell - I don't remember either and I have been trying to remember it for years now. My DJ did not even have a copy of it so he used mine and asked if he could keep it, it was only burnt so I said yes. I had never heard of it before going on a search for a song that suited us and reading the lyrics made me cry without even hearing the song. I can't believe that I don't know what it is!

Re: SO Wedding Music
"It's a child on her wedding day... and the daddy that gives her away"
I get all teary eyed thinking about it. I also danced with my mom to the theme from Gilmore Girls, since that was "our show".
And my bridal party danced with me to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjYSERaXEGI
SUCH a beautiful song! I sang it at my MIL's funeral, it has a very special place in my heart.
