Spin Off: Big Dork

Here is my big dork admission:

My DH and I recently discovered Geocaching (it's kind of like a big social scavenger hunt done in public places all over the world).  The basic idea is people hide containers with log books, and you go find and log them using your GPS.

I admit, this is super dorky and not normally my type of thing, but it is soooo fun.  The last few nice days, DH, DS, and I go visit a new park somewhere in Chicago, and there will inevitably be a few to find.

Any other dork admissions you all want to make?

Re: Spin Off: Big Dork

  • I don't think geocaching is dorky! Is it? I know a lot of people who used to do it in college (including me) and we were just hippies and stoners...we weren't dorks - I swear! lol  :) (ETA: Not that there is ANYTHING wrong with being dorky.)

  • We have been out geocaching a couple of times and it has always been a nice adventure.

I counted my son's Star Wars shirts the other day and he has 8 that currently fit him, that's dorky and its not even his fault, poor kid.<span style="fon

  • I went geocaching a few times. I did get bored, but now that you mention it... I should take DS. We're always are at parks. He loves being a "good finder". Maybe I'll test it out next time we're at a park. Thanks for the idea!

  • I've never heard of this but I'm going to check it out.
  • Okay, I have two dorky confessions and I'm proud of them.

    1. I'm a Harry Potter nut, and I could probably beat anyone at HP trivia.  I dream of some day going to HP world in Florida.  I read the books every couple of years and I can't w

  • We like to go orienteering.  There is a major club in our area and during the summer you can find an event almost every weekend that is within ~2hrs where we live.  Basically orienterring is a bit like geocaching but instead of finding log books
