Walking After Midnight
Hello Darling
(and I just got a little depressed that a song from my childhood is now considered a classic - but I do love George Strait)

I made the game so I can change the rules...
"Tell me your favorite classic country SONGS"
...and yes, I also think of classics as being from before I was born, though some of the other ones mentioned will stand the test of time...maybe I should say "country gold?"

I told my sister how sad this song was and she gave me a blank stare - totally missed that it's about the guy dying.

Ps--I have had two George Strait personal encounters. When I was 7 or 8, I skated with him. It was at a skating rink where my brother's boy scouts party was happening at the same time as he was there with his son. We were too young to be shy and skated right up to him. He was cool about it and had kids holding on to both hands. The second time I was in college and working a summer job at a grocery store close by his home near San Antonio. It was at the end of my shift and I got annoyed with him (not realizing it was him) bc he kept dropping his money clip and was taking forever to pay.
Also, I love all these songs and I'm wanting to listen to them all now.
The Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels
9 - 5 Dolly Parton
El Paso - Marty Robbins
Im not old, but I love old country songs.

Ring of Fire - the original and the Social Distortion cover.
It may be more bluegrass than country, but The Gourds have a fabulous cover of Gin and Juice
