And so begins the dreaded task of comparing car seat/stroller safety tests, features, and comfort. I have narrowed it down to two selections and there is only one major difference between the two. Both are RF infant car seats, however one supports a baby up to 35 pounds, while the other only 30 pounds. Looking at growth charts, with a boy in the highest percentile, this could be the difference of almost 10 months.
So my question to you is should this be the deciding factor in my car seat search? Obviously I want to use this car seat as a long as possible, and if I am going to have baby RF up to the age of 2, having a seat that can support a larger amount of weight would be more beneficial. But, how many babies end up in the higher percentile?
Am I just over thinking this whole thing?
Re: ? for STMs on carseats
Damnit! Now I have to start the search all over again!
DH and I are both really short from really short families, so I don't see this kid growing like a weed,
Your kiddo is far more likely to outgrow the seat by height before he/she outgrows the weight. My son is 2 years old, in the 77th percentile for weight and he weighs 29 lbs. By weight, he could probably be in his snug ride 35 for at least another year.
don't owrry about it-- if your child hits the limit just put in the convertible carseat RF
ETA: Britax Marathon has SUPER high weight/height limits and is one of the safest. also, my son is 4 and only 33 lbs lol </p
I agree with PP's, LO will most likely hit the height limit on an infant seat before the weight. Our infant seat only went to 22 lbs, but DS still hit the height limit first, at around 11 months. (DS is a peanut)
I love our Britax Boulevards. DS

A stowaway on board!
No car seats are proven safer than others. They all meet the same safety standards but some have extra bells and whistles and claim they are safer but there is no way to tell because they do not tell anyone the crash test results.
With that
I truly want to thank everyone for their feedback on this, there are so many styles and brands to choose from and with absolutely no knowledge this is an extremely daunting task.
If I go with a convertible car seat I am giving up the abili
