Importance of money

The FFFC thread below got me thinking about where in the spectrum of what is important to you do consider money?  What would you be willing to do for $1 million, $10 million, $100 million?

Would you move away from friends and family for a job that made you tons of money?

I think for us, financial security is VERY important.  We don't need a totally lavish lifestyle, but I would also be lying if I said that living paycheck to paycheck would work for me.  I know myself, and I just wouldn't be happy having to stress over a budget.  For others, it is totally worth it to not have to work, etc.  This is not meant to be a WM/SAHM debate, but just wondering what people think about how money plays in to their lives.

  • Financial security is very important for us too, but we wouldn't move away from friends/family for it. We actually just moved from NYC where my H was making more money to my home area so we can live near my family.  My H's salary is slightly lower

  • We just refinanced the house so we have a bit more money to put into savings. But in the fall DH is going to quit his job and go to school full time, so things will be tight for 2 years. I'm happy to be putting my degrees to good use though, even if I

  • Generally I'd say we definitely wouldn't move away from our families and friends to make more money. BUT we don't live paycheck to paycheck. If we did I might feel differently. It's really hard to say without having that experience.

  • I think the question for us would be if we would move closer to our families to make more money LOL... Neither of our families are great, and we don't feel they would be a great influence.  But in general, we look for a balance.  I think earlier
