What do you do when you have a SIL who consistently tells you to "wait at least 3-4 years to have kids." My husband and I want kids now and we are trying (but having some minor issues). I would like to be able to talk to her about it, but I know all she'll do is lecture me about how we should wait longer. Her and her husband still have not had children. We are in our mid twenties and they are 6 years older than us. It's really annoying that any time kids come up all she does is talk about how it's stupid to have kids in your first 3-5 years of marriage. It makes me feel like when we do get pregnant she won't be happy for us. I don't want to cause any issues. How can I let her know that how she has lived her life is great for them but may not be what's good for DH and me?? I'm getting ready to take out a pen and take notes the next time she starts lecturing me on how I should live my life. I appreciate advice- but the constructive kind.

I honestly would just stop talking to her about it. But if it does come up, I would just say "I am sure that is a good time table for you and your DH, but my husband and I have to do what is right for us."

This cracked me up as well!! Thanks for the help girls! I appreciate it and this gives me some good ways to calmly approach the situation
