RCS, do they give an epidural or spinal?

Hello ladies! I am having a RCS in July and am already wondering if I will get an epidural or that spinal? I had an epidural with DD then an emergency C-section. Going in for a repeat, what do they do? I have heard bad things about spinals so I am kind of afraid  Confused

    While all I've had is a spinal, it wasn't bad at all.

  • I had spinals for both my c-sections and they were awesome.

  • Spinal. Everything went fine with my DD, the novacaine hurt worse then the actual spinal!

    Spinal here too....  My recovery time after it was a lot quicker than with the epidural.

  • I didn't have a headache afterwards (thankfully) but I did have the shakes and really, really bad itching. The benedryl they gave me did nothing and I ended up scratching so hard I broke the skin. Thankfully it went away the next day.

  • With DS1 I had an epi in place already for my labor. With DS2 I went right into the OR and they gave me a spinal and then an epidural for recovery. I'm assuming they'll do that again for this one? They both felt the same so I don't really have a preferenc

  • I asked my DR this today, as my repeat C has been scheduled for May 15th...he said I would get a spinal.

     Here is a question I didnt ask...once it wears off, do you get anything else for pain?  I know with my first I was still hooked up

  • With DD #1 I had a epidural and a emergency c-section, with DD #2 I had a RCS and had a "walking epidural". I am getting ready to go for another RCS and will probably have another "walking epidural".
