Push Presents: does anyone do this?

I have friends who have made huge deals about their DH buying them a. "Push Present". I think it's pretty silly. But I do expect flowers. What are your expectations from your SO?

  • My DH brought me a diet coke, cheddar cheese balls and a BK chicken Sandwhich, I considered him a saint!

  • foot rubs and whatever I want to eat and drink after labor.  I've never been all that into presents, push presents seem kinda crass to me.

  • I never expected it and thought they were greedy and stupid. BUT SIL made a huge huge fuss over making sure her H (DH's brother) got her an iPad and now BIL is nagging DH to see what DH is getting me. So this might wind up being a win-win for me.

  • I am demanding that my husband get a vasectomy. I'll call it my "push present". Although, if I end up with a csection I'll have them take care if business while they're in there. I figure after 3 pregnancies and pushing 4 babies out, not to mention almost

  • I want a med rare steak and buttery mashed potatoes once I have the baby. Home made, take out I don't care, but I desperately want this as a meal post delivery. Other than that, a healthy baby is my gift.

  • Never expect anything because that just gives you a reason to be disappointed. DH was with me the entire time, slept on the little cot went home to feed the cats and even folded laundry I started to fold when my water broke all without me ever asking. Th

  • I expect DH to not stand up and harass the Dr during the c-section... I usually throw the anesthesiologist to him. I get a ton of zofran and the constant drone keeps me from hearing things like "This baby is so far into her pelvis its got a cone head"

  • This is my 3rd and I have never heard of a push present.  That sounds nuts to me and my husband would probably laugh at me...I mean we are both being given the most precious "present" anyone could ask for.
  • I don't expect anything but I do love this idea:

Push presents are just not something H would ever think of and I'd never suggest it.  We will have more necessary things to spend

  • I hadn't heard of a push present till my younger sister asked if I wanted one but I don't care...I just want a healthy baby! My husband takes such great care of me and baby as it is...I couldn't ask for anything more ::cheesy I know but true!::
  • Actually I might just ask for some carne asada fries for afterwards :
  • I'm with you and think its extremely silly... I work in L&D and get to see some interesting "push presents"

I don't expect one nor do I want one... $ is better spent on baby things!

I DO expect my FI to be supportive while I'm in labor

  • I've heard of it and think it's a nice gesture however I would never expect something nor feel badly for not getting something. I feel the baby is the gift and in the end my husband takes awesome care of me.

I don't expect anything. I may sound like a broken record, but this baby will be the greatest gift ever.

I do expect a couple burgers, a large soda and a large fry after delivery though. If DH can make that happen, I'll be that much more grateful

  • My baby is my push present.

  • I never expected a thing but my hubby suprised me and took me shopping bought me some new clothes when my body finally bounced back. It was a nice lil suprise. He said I deserved it after watching what I went through lol
  • I am pretty sure I got my stuff up front beautiful engagement wedding ring custom designed, a vasectomy reversal to make this all possible and a wonderful man to share my life with the rest is just frosting...... Well, after the family ::smiles::

  • Honestly, I'll be happy if DH makes it through labor and delivery without passing out! (he doesn't do so well with blood, AT ALL!)

Although after reading this thread, I'm thinking steak and fries sound like a good "push present" <img src="http:

  • I'm not expecting anything this time around, but wouldn't be mad if DH decided to do something.

  • I never expected anything for having our baby...but I guess I didn't technically push, I just had a crash c/s and me and the baby almost died.

My DH got me a Skor candybar in ICU because I was having a craving and could finally eat. Maybe that
