Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

How much water does your toddler drink?

My lo drinks 6-7 cups a day that are 10 oz. she always downs a full one when I put her to bed at night, and again first thing in the am.

does anyone else's lo drink this much water? She doesn't get anything else other than juice from time to time. And she soaks through so many diapers as a result of so much water. Is this something I should ask the pedi about? It just seems like so much water for a little one!

  • Does she drink milk? My girls get milk with breakfast and dinner, probably about 15oz total per day, maybe close to 20oz. They get water with lunch and snack and just whenever throughout the day, probably like 15oz total.

  • She has a milk allergy so no, she doesn't drink milk. We have tried offering alternatives but she won't drink them. So she only drinks water.

  • Our DD loves water just as much as your LO!  We give her milk and juice, too, but she clearly prefers water. She'll go through 5-6 cups of water in a day on top of having milk twice a day and juice once a day. I have never thought this to be an issue

  • My kid drinks tons of water too. Like six sippy cups worth but 2 of milk and then some some days. My pedi said it no big deal and she may be actually that thirsty or just out of habit. He said as long she was otherwise eating well it didn't matter and

  • She takes little sips from a sippy cup throughout the day.  She still nurses a ton though when I get home from work and at night.

  • I've never really kept track. LO only gets water or BM via nursing. We let him have a sippy cup of water available all day and I just refill it when necessary, usually at mealtimes I'll just top it off, and he nurses anywhere from 4-8x a day. So overal

  • I don't measure it...but he only gets milk with meals, and water the rest of the time.
