I've been having really bad wrist pain for a few months. Some days weren't so bad and then other days were awful. My wrist feel like it gets stuck and "pops" in a crooked position sometimes too. Picking up DS started to become impossible so I finally decided to see the a doc and she tells me that I have severe tendonitis called "DeQuervain Syndrome". I came home and looked it up and apparently its common among mother's of infants and also called "Mother's Wrist" or "washwoman's syndrome". I find it really weird that I have NEVER heard any of my family or friend's talk about this.
I'm now on anti-inflammatory meds and wearing a wrist splint. DS shows no signs of walking anytime soon so I'll be continuing to lift him throughout the day. I'm hoping that I won't have to wear this thing for months.
Anybody have experience with this?? Is there anything else I can do to make it heal faster?
Re: "Mother's Wrist" anyone?
My wrists really hurt and were clicking and clacking like crazy in my third tri. My doc said it would get better after delivery - the joints had loosened because of the hormones released to soften my hip joints, everything kinda loosens up.
I have it in both wrists and have had it since my last month of pregnancy. It got to be so bad that I had to stop bf'ing because of it when my LO was 3 1/2 months. I just did not know if I could lift him up one more time and bf'ing was making

Get your thyroid checked! I thought I had mommies thumb, then carpel tunnel, then depression and it ended up that in fact, post pregnancy my thyroid just quit working and now I have Hoshimotos / hypothyroidism.
On synthroid -
I had this when my LO was about 2 1/2 months old. I thought it was an old wrist injury acting up until I went to the Dr. It's SO painful, and makes your hands almost unusable, which is so hard!! The worst was when my DD got stuck in her carseat b
