Hello! My son is 10 months old. We just had his 10 month wellness visit and I felt the Dr was rather useless in helping us have any idea how much or types of food my son should be eating.
He is still breastfed and nurses first thing in the morning as well as just before bed. He gets 2 six ounce bottles during the day. He also gets breakfast of 1.5 oz of cereal and 2 ounces of fruit or yogurt. For dinner he gets another 1.5 oz of cereal plus about 2 ounces of a pureed meat and 2 ounces of a veggie.
How much cereal is important for a baby to eat? He eats all kinds - wheat, rice, barley, oatmeal. We were once told to do 2 X a day but now the dr won't comment. LOL. We had it up to 2 oz of cereal but then he stopped finishing his bottle so we cut back.
He has recently started crawling and seems like he must be using a lot more energy so we were thinking of adding in a lunch and start with a few ounces of either fruit or veggie.
Occassionally he gets MumMums or Puffs for a snack. I hesitate to give him these things because he has a very sensitive gag reflex and often gags and will throw up if he's eaten anywhere near close to his snack.
Appreciate any input on the best path to making sure he's progressing properly with eating. There are kiddies in his daycare who are eating full on table finger foods. I'm not interested in having him that far along, but I am a little worried that I'm doing something wrong and he'll be so far behind. All the Dr would comment on was that I said he really only eats level 1 or 2 food, when I tried 3 he didn't like it - but that was a few weeks ago and I was planning on trying again.
