Question about ear infections

Is it possible for babies to have them without a fever? DD had a cold the end of last week and beginning of this week. I was sucking out green snot, but she never had a fever. Now I suck out the occasional white boogers, but nothing green at all today. She's been SUPER fussy today, and wouldn't let me put her down for the last two hours before bed tonight... Which is totally not like her at all. I've seen her touch her ears a few times, but nothing too significant in that area. DH keeps asking if I think she has an ear infection, and I'm like... I have no idea!

Maybe it's just a fussy phase, wonder week, etc? I know ear infections tend to come after colds... That's why I'm a tiny bit concerned. Any advice from moms of LOs who have had ear infections would be appreciated!!

    It's been awhile, but I believe they usually have a temp associated with ear infections. My LO had a double ear infection at 3 months, and singles at 6, 8 and 1.5. horrible. Each time she had a mild fever and spent most of her time tugging at her ears or screaming in pain. If your worried, maybe schedule an appt or call the nurses station and list the symptoms. It'll give you an answer and hopefully peace of mind.

    No, they don't always get a temp. DS1 has had one after another and had 2 rounds of tubes. He never had any symptoms other than crying out in the middle of the night. That was my only clue that he had them.

    Ds just had an ear infection a little over a week ago. No fever!  He had a cold and took him to the pedi because he had a lingering cough when she diagnosed it as an ear infection. I had no idea!  No signs that I saw. He is 3 1/2 months. Now just hoping its gone since his cold is coming back  and he has been super fussy.
