Hip Replacement anyone?

Hi all

Quick question for you guys: Will I be at an increased risk during pregnancy? When it comes time to deliver, will I require a C-section? 

Background information about me: I had a total hip replacement when I was 19 due to Avascular Necrosis disease. I am now 24 and plan to begin TTC in the fall. I made an attempt to research this topic online; however, I seem to be one of the youngest with a hip replacement. 

 

Any thoughts or information would be much appreciated!

    I had both of mine replaced by 21 due to AVN. I was able to deliver vaginally with no complications. As long as they are metal on ceramic joints there is no increased risk to the baby or delivery. Metal on metal has been shown to dispense microscopic flak

    Thank you so much for your response! That is very helpful and I am incredibly excited to find another person in my situation!  I believe mine is ceramic on metal, but I'll have to double check. I'll definitely keep you in mind in the future!
