Facebook annoyance...

I have a few friends on facebook, who are not married nor do they have their own children, but they post pictures of their friends' child(ren), because they "claim" them as their own. I mean, one or two pictures of your friends' kids is fine, but when it's every single thing (and literally the only thing) you post about, I'm gonna get testy! I don't post that many pictures of my own child! It's also annoying when you see them in person, and they talk about "their" child, and what they did the other day.

Yes, I know there's a hide feature, and I have just pushed that button on one of my new friends, but come on. I'd rather listen to you talk about yourself for an hour than listen to you talk for 5 more minutes about this kid I don't even know...does anyone else get annoyed at these posts?

Re: Facebook annoyance...

  • I have a friend who just started dating someone who has a child and she posts photos as though she is this child's mother.  It really irks me.  I would hate it if someone tried to be my daughter's mommy! I just want to say "YOU AREN'T HER MOMMY!"

I prefer people posting pictures of kids that aren't theirs to people who post 453 updates and photos of their pets each day.

Hmm. I guess most of my friends don't have pets, because I almost never see pet posts (unless someone got a new puppy, but I think that's different).

  • Um, I think what you described is disconcerting and kind of stalkerish.  If any of my friends were posting about my kid every day, I'd feel really uncomfortable.

You'd think that the actual parents of the child would feel that way right? They actually think it's cute (the only reason I know who the parents are is because they comment on all of the pictures).

If someone was posting about my baby every single day, I'd tell them to stop and/or unfriend them.

Ha. Before I had DS, I totally posted about my English bulldog a few times a week. She's my baby. Yes, it's probably annoying for people who don't have a dog, but she's like our second (or technically first) child.
