chewing nails!!

My DS started chewing his nails when he was ~ 24-25 mo old?  At first I inorged it thinking it was just a phase, and it still may be.....but he is still doing it and it's starting to worry me!  Now that summer is coming up too, he is playing in the dirt and his hands are so much dirtier! yuck!  He only does it at night and it seems to get worse if I correct him.  

Is there anything topically that I can put on his nails that taste bad?  Any suggestions??

    My DS does this too!  He NEVER lets up clip his toes or fingers.  He chews both!  Won't let us anywhere near him with clippers.  I just let him go...nothing I can do.  When he is old enough to talk to and have him understand me

    Right now I'm not doing anything about it. There is some bitter nail polish you can apply, but it doesn't recommend use before age 3. I do know that other toddler moms have used it with success.
