After almost 4 long weeks of waiting anxiously, I heard back from our genetic counselor yesterday. Our most recent loss was due to a translocation resulting in Trisomy 14 and my DH's karyotype results showed that he is the carrier of a Robertsonian Translocation 13;14. The good news is that if one of us had to have it, it seems that a male carrier is the better in terms of risk. There's a <1% for delivering an affected baby with severe mental retardation or multiple congenital anomalies. The bad news is that we will have a high rate of miscarriage. I'm glad to have an answer because I know so many people don't ever find one but I'm just sad knowing that we will likely have to endure this heartache many more times. DH is taking it pretty hard and feels like it's his fault that we had two miscarriages. I'm trying my best to make him not feel that way because I know he would do the same for me. To the other multiple loss ladies, is there anything that keeps you going after so many losses? I'm worried about the toll it will eventually take on us. Thanks for listening...
