This is the first year we've had a non-family birthday party for DS. He'll be 5 and he's super excited about having a party. I booked it for a firefighter museum.
How many kids would you invite for a Saturday afternoon on Memorial Day weekend? His class is 9 kids (all but one of them are girls) and the next class down is probably 10--some of whom he knows well and some he doesn't. I could either invite his class plus the few kids that he knows well from the next room or just invite both classes, figuring not that many will show. We've also got a few other non-school friends to invite. The room will work best for 16 or fewer kids.
I have no idea how many will show up, especially because of Memorial Day. We have to pay per person, so I don't want to go crazy, but I also don't want to have no one show up (hello, social anxiety issues). There's also at least 2 other girls in his class with birthdays that week, so I don't know if there'll be competing parties.
Also, for a 2 pm party, would you do pizza or just some snacks and cake?
Thanks! Throwing parties brings out my anxiety....
Re: birthday party question
I would invite his class, and the few kids he's friends with in the other class. Even if he only has a few kids there, he'll have a ton of fun.
For a 2 pm party, I would not expect a meal to be served, so just snacks & cake. have fun!
