Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Crib Rolling and Getting Stuck

So our LO is a couple days from 9 Months and she's recently started sleeping thru the night on a consistent basis...meaning we put her down at 8:30 and she wakes up about 7am.

She has always been a mover/roller in the crib. You put her down one way and pretty much find her in multiple positions thru the night. Recently though, she seems to find herself getting stuck on one end of the crib. She gets into a weird position and when she tries to roll her self either way she can't. Because of this she starts to whine and eventually gets upset and cries.

So my question is, since she no longer really asks for food at night, which is good, do you suggest I just go in the room, maybe gently move her out from the corner and see if she goes back to sleep? Or bring in the bottle and give that to her, which I know puts her back.

Sorry for the long winded question but here is the reason I ask that. The first time she did that, I brought in the bottle out of habit. At first I just gently put my hand on her back to see if she would fall asleep but she then knew I was there and started balling. When I gently moved her away from the end, she actually sat up, but was so tired kept falling forward which upset her. Eventually I just picked her up and gave her the bottle. She really didn't drink much and the whole time her eyes were shut.

20 minutes later I was putting her back down and she slept. I LOVE the fact that she is pretty much self weaning off that late night bottle but I don't want her to fall back into that routine if she keeps getting stuck and I have to go in there.

PHEW! Sorry ..i know i ramble.

  • Thanks for the reply.

Yeah last night she did it again and got stuck and started crying and getting upset. We ended up giving her a bottle, which she only drank half, and passed right back out.
