XP crib mattress

We finally decided to go with the Graco Lauren cribs. Now, the mattress. Do we really need the $300 naturepedic organic mattress (best one per baby bargains) or is a less expensive brand just as good? If we didn't have to buy two, I would just go with the $300 pick. We're trying to save where we can.

Also, what brand of mattress cover do you prefer?

Same here (it got an A rating in Baby Bargains). I'm a FTM so I don't have a ton of input on the mattress cover, but we registered for a couple of plain mattress pads (Carter's brand). We also registered for a couple Ultimate Crib Sheets that go on top of
