Secondary IF

OPK Question

Can an OPK ever incorrectly indicate a surge? I've been using my CB one for over a year and each cycle up until the previous one indicated a surge on day 18, so I assume that means a day 19 or 20 ovulation. Last month, it picked up the surge on day 14, and this cycle it picked up today on day 13 (after 3 days of low readings no less). I test in the morning and recently learned that I should test in the afternoon. It was too late for me to change the settings.

Does anybody have any insight? After a year of late ovulation, I've become skeptical of the earlier peaks. Thanks!

Re: OPK Question

  • I have had unexplained surges that didn't indicate ovulation but then surged again later in the cycle which did indicate ovulation confirmed by my RE and just the opposite at times. I hope it is a true surge and ovulation! That would increase your LP whic

  • I'm not really experienced with the CBE OPK.  But OPKS in general can indicate a surge, but then it's entirely possible that your body does not O-- your body only geared up to O.  So "incorrectly surged" isn't exactly accurate-- it accurately

  • I got a CBE digitial smiley face (positive) early in my cycle, a couple of cycles ago.  I was pretty sure it couldn't be right, because the strips didn't even look like it should have been read as a positive.  There was a little blob of pigme

  • Yes, I had OPK that gave me fake results when I was doing IUIs. The nurse told me some boxes are defective sometimes. Try a different batch of sticks and see if that makes a difference. that was what I was told.

    Best of luck </

  • Thanks everyone! Last month I used a leftover box and this month I opened a new one, so since they both seemed to produce the same early surge, I'm thinking maybe it's accurate? I also took a regular ovulation test when I got home from work and it came ba
