Normal baby behavior?

Baby is 1 week old today. She is either sleeping, eating, or crying.

I kinda expected a little awake time without tears? Wondering if something is wrong while she is awake or if this is just kinda normal for newborns.

    Newborns will sleep mostly, but when she's crying, have you tried swaddling or any of the techniques from "happiest baby on the block"? Basically you want to recreate the womb to help calm them down

    I have and usually can calm her down fine but she goes right back to sleep. It's not that she crying for hours or anything, I just thought I'd have some awake alert baby time. I get maybe 5 minutes if I'm lucky before se drifts off to sleep but if I try

    My nurse said babies will be more perky by 2 weeks. Every day is different enjoy the sleepiness!

    Our NICU nurse told us when she was a week old that she would probably sleep 20 hours of the day. At 2 weeks she definitely showed a lot more alertness, the other day she was awake during most of the day with just a little bit of sleeping here and there!

    At 4 weeks we're just starting to get some more longer alert periods. She's also pretty alert at the beginning of a feeding.
