Our little boy made his arrival on Tuesday April 23rd at 5:04 am weighing 6 lbs 13 oz and 20.5 inches long! Noah is adorable and healthy and we're all at home enjoying the new addition to our family. DD isn't totally sure what to make of him. She does give him kisses and say "I love you brother" but gives him a pretty hardcore glare when he nurses. I'm sure she will adjust with time (at least that's what I'm telling myself.) Feel free to skip the birth story and enjoy the cute baby pics below!
Around 11pm on the 22nd, my typical nightly contractions were getting worse than usual and kept me from sleeping so I eventually stopped trying and just got up. I took a shower, walked around the house for a while, and by then the contractions were coming every 5 minutes, lasting a minute each and I was having to stop and work through them. Just before 2am, I had MH call my mom and stepdad and ask them to come over to stay with DD because we were pretty sure this was it. Because I had so much false labor, I wasn't *100%* sure it was labor until, during a contraction, my water broke all over our bedroom floor.
My mom arrived right after that and the contractions got much more intense and were coming about 3 minutes apart. I started freaking out because we had a 40 minute drive to the birth center and I was suddenly terrified I was going to have the baby in the car or something. Since she's a midwife, my mom went ahead and checked me and I was only about 4cm. I had planned for my sister to drive us to the center and be with me through labor but she's a night nurse and couldn't leave right away so my mom, MH and I all packed into the car and my mom drove us to the birth center. The contractions in the car sucked big time because I really felt like I needed I needed to be on my hands and knees.
When we got to the birth center it was about 3:45am. My MW (who delivered DD and this time came in on his night off to be with me) checked me and I was 6cm. The nurse put in an IV since I was GBS positive and I decided to get into the tub. The contractions were right on top of each other by then and I was having a really hard time handling them, but MH, the nurse, and my mom were great about reminding me to breathe through them. My MW came in and was listening to the baby with the doppler when I started saying I had to push. My MW managed to check me in the tub and said that was because the baby was right there. I pushed hard twice and Noah came right out - barely more than an hour after arriving at the birth center! I was completely shocked. After a 29 hour labor with DD that involved transferring to the hospital for an epidural when I wouldn't progress past 4cm, it was crazy to have a med-free water birth in 6 hours! I am so grateful for a healthy baby boy and an amazing birth experience.
And the most important part...pictures of Noah!
And DD welcoming her brother home (please excuse the messy house)...

Omg he is too cute! The last picture is awesome, I'm jealous that your DD is able to kiss him and not try to bop him off the head like L does lol.
I'm glad to hear that your birth this time around went much more smoothly (and quickly!) for you,
