  This doesn't answer your question, but DD is 20 months and we have had the potty out for a month or so now.  She sits on it a few times a day (she asks) but only goes 1 out of 5 times.   We say good try and move on.  No pressure.

  We've taken a mixed approach to the potty - we introduced the potty at a young age (8 months) and give her a few opportunities to sit on it each day. She generally goes at least once a day on the toilet. I don't think you could say we're "training" her
