LO's 1st birthday is soon approaching. I am a FTM and I'm not sure what My husband and I should get him. What do you get a baby that already has so much right? lol
We are not buying him anything...and we are also telling others not to get him anything but I know family still will, so he will get plenty. He is so into everything that is not a toy right now. The only thing we are spending money on is the party and I want professional photos taken of him at this age.
I did think about getting him a red wagon for walks...I feel like it's a classic that can grow with him. We decided to look into getting one later. Maybe an idea if you decide to get him something?
I want to get him an outdoor toy like a small slide or jungle gym type thing for this summer. I didn't want to get him the typical toys I see that I know other people will get him.
We put money in his college fund and bought him a play kitchen at a garage sale. We asked grandparents to get him an outdoor water table and one of those red and yellow cars they can push with their feet. Good luck!
I buy my LO stuff as he needs it or when I come across things I like. I didn't buy him a specific Christmas present and I'm not going to buy him a specific birthday present. I guess this seems weird to me as he will have no clue that he is getting a gift because he will only be one!! Obviously when he is old enough to understand holidays, receiving gifts, etc. I will get him plenty of gifts but for the time being it seems kinda silly. He has plenty of stuff already.
We're just putting money into DS's college fund. We're telling everyone best wishes only. DS hardly plays with what he has, he doesn't need anymore. We'll be gracious if anyone brings gifts, but gifts aren't really important right now.
haven't decided yet. I thought about telling grandparents/aunts and uncles no gifts, but I know they won't listen, so I put a range of gifts on Amazon and will sent them there or tell them they can donate to his college fund. the kid has so much stuff and he doesn't need any clothes.
I did get him the Dr. Seuss birthday book since that is his theme.
I'm a FTM as well and we're not buying a whole lot for LO's first birthday. He's having pictures taken and we're getting him a special 1st birthday shirt with his name, as well as a trip to the Brooklyn Children's Museum. The actually gift will most likely be from his Grandparents and they're getting him a small sterling silver medallion for around his neck (it's a Christening/Birthday present).

This is exactly what I think we are getting DS for his birthday. I'm outside all summer long in the evenings after work and on the weekends and I want my peanut to have something outside to play on while I'm weeding the flower beds.

My parents are getting him a convertible carseat (we have to have three) and my mom cross stitched him a quilt that will be a keepsake. She's been working on it all year.
I have a giant bead maze I bought on super sale at Christmas that I've been saving. He has a little one he loves so I'm sure he'll like it and I plan to buy him a tiny pool and a hanging swing for the front porch. We live in a condo so those are two things I can do to give him some playtime outside.
I'm guessing some other close relatives will get him small things but they're not necessary at all, he has plenty.

Nothing...seriously put the $ in his savings account or donate it to charity
Agreed. For DS, he was always getting tons of stuff for every occasion. Now that I have two kids, I see how little they actually need/want at this age. Enjoy it!
