Does anyone else get seriously stressed out about feeding solids? DS is 8 mo and he's been eating solids since 6 mo. I BF and he gets bottles at daycare (I pump while at work) and typically that's what he wants. He only eats 2 solid meals a day - about 1/3 cup oatmeal with pureed fruit or veggies in it @ 9:30 am and about 1/4 cup fruit & 1/4 cup veggies again around 6 pm. He's teething though, and sometimes he just drops the 2nd feeding all together in favor of more BM. He's a little on the small side growth-wise, but the pediatrician has no concerns because DH & I are both smaller people too.
I just get so stressed out because these feeding guides I see online are saying he should be eating all this in a day:
Seriously?! Does anyone else have a kid that will actually eat all that? DS is too busy wanting to play and when he slows down enough for a meal in the evening, it's all about the boob! I think he just prefers me for comfort since I work full-time.
So here's my question at the end of this super long rant, should I just have the daycare stick in an additional feeding while he's there during the day? Or am I overthinking this and need to slow my roll? TIA!
Re: Stressing out about solids!
We're 8 mos as well, BF except for bottles at daycare (pump at work too), and teething, so it sounds like we're in the same boat. How soon before or after nursing or a bottle does he get the solids? Also, have you attempted to introduce any
Just relax and don't overthink it. Give LO mostly milk and then add in occasional solids.
Yesterday DS only had 2oz of solids at daycare, none in the evening.
Some days he'll have 2oz of yogurt in the morning, 4oz of solids for lunch, 4oz o
