The dreaded 8m supply dip

I know I've seen a lot of ladies mention the supply dip that seems common around 8 months (sometimes 7, sometimes 9.)  If this happened to you, what did you do?  Did your supply return?  Did you hit the freezer stash?  Did you pump an extra time?

I'm suddenly getting a full ounce less per pump, putting me at 3 oz. short per day.  I have started more milk plus again, and have been on mother's milk tea and oatmeal daily for the entire time I've been BFing.  And I drink a ton of water.

What did you do?  TIA!

Re: The dreaded 8m supply dip

  • I used my freezer stash for the amount I was missing. It was a good thing I had an oversupply for so long. I found the dip was temporary and happened about a week before my period started.

  • I've had to start drinking Mother's Milk Tea again, power pumping in the afternoon, and pumping at home in the evening and once or twice on the weekend. I haven't checked my freezer stash to calculate whether it would get me through until the 1 year ma

  • I did not feel a dip. AF has not return yet either, so that is also a factor. DD's solid meals have not replaced nursing sessions and she still nurses at night a lot.

Are you nursing before giving solids?

Kellymom.com has a lot of good tip

  • I had to dip into my freezer stash. Wile I have gotten back to my usual ounces (most days)  my pump times are still 50% longer.  It sucks.
