Seriously? Is this how it works?

So I am going to start back at work in Sept and have begun researching day care options for DD.  I live in NYC and so far I can not find any pricing for daycare's available online.  One place  I called yesterday made me make an appointment to come in and find out the rates. WTF?  Today I tried calling a few places only to get answering machines.  I don't think it should be this complicated to do my initial screening of who we can even afford.  Is this how it normally goes? What a huge waste of time.

    It's like that for a lot of the centers in my area as well.  It's really annoying.  If you're out of my price range, I don't want to bother touring.

    No, it shouldn't be so hard! I'm also going back in September and just started looking. Are you only looking at centers or also in home people? I've called two centers and 3 home people, all of whom have me pricing! I got referrals from people I know for

    I'm the director of a daycare and we give prices when you call I don't know why they would make you wait until you came in. We actually have our pricing on the website as well. That seems strange.


    I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
