No pointing or words?

DD is not really pointing or using any real words yet, and I'm starting to be a bit anxious. Anyone else have an LO not doing those things at almost a year? I have a family history of autism on my mom's side so I'm very cognizant of her communication development. She is doing some things she should be, but not doing others. She also has a  high-pitched shriek that she's started using when she's excited or trying to get our attention, and one of my professors said that could be a red flag for autism (I'm working on my master's in speech pathology). Just curious about other LOs development.

    My LO will be 11 months next week. He babbles a lot but no words or pointing. He's signed a few times but not much. He also has the high pitched scream as did my niece and nephew. Those two are perfectly normal. I don't think there is anything to worry ab

    DS just started really pointing at things this week and he is almost 13 months. He didn't start saying words until a couple of weeks ago and he only says mama, dada, uh oh, and wawa which we are pretty sure is our cats name, Lola. He also just start

    My son is about your daughter's age and we have no pointing or real words either. He does the babbling and mamamama, dadadada, but no where close to saying it to the right person.  Most of the time he just says it to the chair or floor or whatever is

    Both my LOs did the high pitch shrieking.  That is normal.  My first LO didn't point until she was 1.  She is now a typical 3 year old.  My LO2, 11 months old, points, but doesn't really use many words other than mama and baba.&nbsp

    My oldest DS didn't point until 15m.  He's not autistic and he's 3.5. 

    Neither of my twins point yet, either.
