Potty training ?'s PLEASE HELP! :)

My DD was easy compared to my DS! Isn't that how it always goes?!

He's 2.5 now. We've been using pull-ups. We've tried a potty chart, bought some legos that are still sitting on the fridge, etc. He doesn't seem interested.

We tried a few months ago & he was peeing every 15 min. all over the place. So we stopped. Now, it's obvious he's learned to hold it for longer periods of time. But he gets frustrated with clothing. So we've been trying pants-free around the house. And I bought new stools that he can stand on at the potty. He can go by himself this way. And I can tell he's a little proud of that.

So, yesterday I put him in undies. And he stayed dry all day except for poop. Same for today so far. BUT I have to make him go or say "you can go outside after you pee" or "you can get out a puzzle after you pee" And he doesn't argue. BUT he NEVER tells me when he needs to go.

So my questions:

1. Keep him in undies?

2. Keep taking him or let him have accidents until he learns to go on his own?

3. Our DD pooped in the potty starting at 18 months mostly b/c she had constipation problems. Will the poop part "click" when the peeing in the potty does? I'm not a fan of poop in the undies :)

  • We started PTing last weekend. And he's doing really well. But we do have to ask him. If we ask, he'll tell us "yes I do" if he needs to. But he won't walk over to the potty without us asking. I think it'll just take some time for them to learn to thin

    1.  Keep him in undies.

    2. My DS has been in undies for one month.  The first week he had a couple accidents a day for the first few days.  The second week he had 2-3 accidents total and he has had 1 accident in the last two weeks.

  • 1. keep in undies

    2. keep taking him every few hours, he'll learn on his own to ask to go.  my DD has been fully potty trained for 2 months and she just holds it forever, so force her to go / bribe :-) cause i'm afraid of UTI.  If she c

  • We used the 3 day method and my little guy is doing so great with it!  It kind of sucks having to be trapped in the house for 3 days, but it was worth it.  No pull-ups/diapers at all.  He even sleeps in undies and keeps them dry!  I hi

  • We trained DD at 2yr7m. I think the biggest thing is stay consistent. If you do undies stay with undies but realize it take time. I would say a good week before pee clicked and about a month before poop was constant as well. The people who say they did XY

  • Thanks ladies! I'm so happy. We asked him to go constantly at first & he did great. But we did have to bribe him sometimes. "GO potty & then you can go outside"

But we have backed off on asking every 30-60 min & he's finally starting
