Hello! This is my first pregnancy and my husband and I had our 20 week ultrasound last week. They found a chroid plexux cyst on our baby's scan. I have done an incredible amount of research that says it will most likely have disappeared by week 28 and that our baby statistically will be perfectly fine! They even say that many healthy adults probably have this cyst and will never know it. However, I am pregnant, hormonal and having a hard time not worrying. Plus, there are a few speculations floating out there that wonder about a relationship between this cyst and autism.
I am wondering if any of you second or third time mommies out there have had a child with this same cyst present during your second trimester (or maybe a friend has) and can tell me about how your babies grew up to be completely healthy toddlers! Thank you!!
Re: Chroid plexus cyst on 20 week ultrasound
DD 2 had one and I went back a week later and it was already gone. She is a happy, healthy and very smart 16 month old girl.
At the time I found out about the cyst I was babysitting for a family and the mom told me that when she was pregnant with her son they also found one. He was a typical 7 yr old boy. You're baby will be fine! Try not to worry ( easier said the done:))
BFP #2: due 6/30/2017, MMC found 12/7/2016
BFP #3: due 10/21/2018
My son had one. I remember freaking out too. But he didn't have any other soft markers.
As technology improves, they are finding these cysts more often. My US office doesn't even report them anymore (to the parents) unless there are other markers because it causes undue stress.

Thank you for posting this! We found out on Thursday during our a/s that our baby girl has one. My doctor reassured me that since the quad scan came back fine and there are no other markers, that everything would be fine and it would go away. I completely trust her, but I couldn't help but cry. DH had a heart defect at birth and I have RA so after plenty of tests and blood work for potential issues, I thought we were in the "all clear".
But thanks to posts like this and others that I've found online, I feel SO much better. My cousin and my mom's best friend both work with OB's and said it is very common now-a-days, they see it pretty much every week. Keep your head up, I know exactly what you are doing though.. Are you going back for a followup u/s? We go back in 8 (long) weeks.
