10 month old hates to be changed!

The last few weeks, my ten month old daughter has started freaking out when we change her clothes or diaper. And by freaking out, I mean, FREAKING OUT. Full out tantrum, screaming like she's being tortured. She actually grabs the door jamb to try to keep us from carrying her into her room.

We're as gentle as possible while also being as quick as possible. We'll sing to her and try to distract her with toys, but no luck. What the F is going on??

My LO just started this too, it's just a phase! Earlier this month we went through about 2 weeks of tantrums whenever I put him in the car seat, and now he's over that...it's just a phase! Good luck!

yep mine did this too and it is a phase but he is still doing it to a degree just not as intense. He just turned one year. I just work really hard to distract and I sit him up a lot while Im getting stuff ready ....he hates being laid down.

Normal and annoying. I do as much as I can while DS is standing. I get his pants and diaper off, and wipe him standing. Heck, I'll even put the diaper on while he's standing if he's really putting up a fuss. I have mastered changing even a poop diaper while he's standing.

If someone else is around I get them to distract him and lay him down just for the new diaper, or the whole thing for a poop diaper. OR I put a toy in my mouth to distract him with if I really need to lay him down.

We are going through this too. We have a few newer toys that we keep aside so that when we change him we can give him something new to look at. It works like a charm. Today he got to play with a triceratops- now he wants to get his diaper changed!

My DS went through this, and I had no idea what on earth was going on either! It's definitely just a "phase" thing. It sucks, and for my little stubborn-head, it lasted almost 2 months before he stopped doing it all the time! But we're at the point now where it usually only happens when he's SUPER tired & cranky, which isn't often.

My 10 month old DS hates to be changed with a passion! He puts up a huge fight every.single.time. It takes probably 10 minutes in the morning to just change his diaper and get clothes on him. I think it's totally normal - but hope it ends soon!

Thanks for all the responses! I'm glad to hear it's a normal phase, I was beginning to think something was wrong. I don't remember reading about this in What To Expect The First Year!!
