Yes, except for Christmas. Gift exchanging takes up most of the morning, with plenty of oooohing and ahhhhing over all the gifts, and nobody in my family has ever sent thank yous for them.

For Christmas I only send a TY note if the person wasn't there to see the gift opened. For birthdays, showers, baptisms, etc., I always send TY notes regardless of if they saw the gift opened or not.

Always send a thank you note no matter what! DH and I argue over this because he was never taught this manner as a child, but I believe it's the right thing to do. Hopefully you have a partner to help on the writing of these cards.
