Do you write thank you cards if you are able to thank the gift giver in person?

    Yes. I always send a thank you card, whether I thanked them in person or not.

    Mostly no.  If the gift giver was over the age of 55 than yes, always.

    Yes, except for Christmas.  Gift exchanging takes up most of the morning, with plenty of oooohing and ahhhhing over all the gifts, and nobody in my family has ever sent thank yous for them.

    No, except if it was from a special party: graduation, baby shower. Birthdays and Christmas, no.

    Yes, unless the gift is from my mom. My parents are extremely generous/ thoughtful- I don't send cards to them or it would be a weekly thing!

    Yes. I figure if they spent their time and/or money to give me a gift, the least i can do is take a couple minutes to send a thank you.

    For Christmas I only send a TY note if the person wasn't there to see the gift opened. For birthdays, showers, baptisms, etc., I always send TY notes regardless of if they saw the gift opened or not.

    Always send a thank you note no matter what!  DH and I argue over this because he was never taught this manner as a child, but I believe it's the right thing to do.  Hopefully you have a partner to help on the writing of these cards.

    I send notes for showers, weddings, and if the gift giver sent a gift and was not there in person (for birthdays/Holidays). I have never received or sent a thank you card if I gave/received a gift in person for birthdays or Christmas/Holidays.
