Wearing 6 month +

I'm curious as to how much others wear their 6 month + babies.  I wore DS for a good chunk of the day up until he was about 4 months when I went back to work and he went to day care. He pretty much slept all day in the Moby for that fourth trimester.   Around the four month mark he got more interested in toys and playing and started to dislike the Moby because it restricted him too much.

DS is now 7.5 months and I really only wear him (in an Ergo) when we are going on a walk or at the grocery store/running errands.  Otherwise, if I'm trying to get stuff done around the house, I put him on the floor to play or in his exersaucer or rocking chair. He now naps in his cradle, unless he fall asleep on one of our outings.

I'm curious as to how this compares with other mamas.

  • My son is 18.5 months. I don't wear him around the house anymore, because I don't need to I can put him down and still get things done.

But I still wear him when we're out, depending on the situation.  (If he's tired, wants to be held, at

  • That's pretty much how I used a carrier-as an alternate to using a stroller when out and about. I never really used it for housework. I wore my second when she was awake, needed to be held and my son wanted me to play something with him I needed two hands

  • I think it's normal and healthy to wear a baby less as baby becomes more interested in the world. My son is nearly 2 now, so I only wear him for transportation reasons where it's better than a stroller. He'd never tolerate just hanging out in a carrier

  • At 6 months, I used to wear DD1 about 2 or 3 times during the work week. When I would get home, she wanted to be with me, but I had to make dinner. I would wear her on my back using a woven, while I prepped our food. I also sometimes wore her in my r

Thanks!  I figured it was normal that DS didn't want to be worn all the time, but thought I would compare.

  • I mostly wear ds out instead of a stroller - shopping or at fairs or places that I want to chase DS1.  At home I usually only wear him if he is really fussy and won't let me put him down, mostly at dinner time.
