AW: Pincher grasp

DD can very easily pick up puffs with her thumb and forefinger and pop them in her mouth.

This makes me excited because DH said he is feeling more comfortable with her having "real" food put on her tray rather than just doing purees. He was very very uncomfortable starting with finger foods and I respected that so we started purees. I'm excited to see how Kate progresses with big girl food (thats what we call it in our house).

Re: AW: Pincher grasp

  • Yay! DD is getting the pincer grasp down too. I'm thinking banana pieces or steamed veggies could be next.

  • That's great! DD still tries to put her whole fist in her mouth, but she's getting better. I read somewhere to give them shredded cheese to practice with, but she doesn't seem to like it very much. Go figure.

  • DD just started doing this too.  I'd say she gets it right about 70% of the time.  :-)

  • N has been on a puree strike for around 3 weeks now, so she's perfected her pincher hold too. :-)  She can't figure out that a spoon goes in her mouth and not on her head, but oh well.

It's so exciting to watch them realize that they're do

  • nice!

DD has it down pat, too. If she doesn't have food to pick up from her tray while I'm feeding her, she will just constantly scrape at the tray & get increasingly pissed off until you put something in there for her to pick up!

  • Awesome!  It's so cute watching them feed themselves :)  I guess I'm a bad mom not up on the milestones--I didn't realize this was a big deal, and E's been at it for a while, ha!
