How much to pay a sitter

So I'm having a high school student babysit I know her family well and used to babysit her. She will be used randomly from 24 hours. How much should I pay her? She's 16 and will be driving herself and has little experience. I live in a medium COL area.

  • If you like her, I'd pay well. I'd say at least $20 for 2 hours, $50 if she's there all evening.

  • I would say 8-10... she is in high school and has little experience. If she had another job she would prob make less and have to pay taxes... so 8-10 cash is good. We use a girl already out of college and pay her 20/hr. But I trust her 100%, she has amazi

  • $6-7/hr is fair as long as she doesn't come from too far away.

  • Our occasional sitter is one of the girls from daycare and we match what she's paid there (which is barely above minimum wage) but my mom works for Est?e Lauder so I usually send her home with about $100 worth of free makeup, too so it's a good supplement

  • We pay $15/hour for our sitters. They're both in their lower 20's and do have experience.  We live in a MCOL area.

For a daycare teacher to come babysit, it's anywhere from $12-17/hour depending on the person.

  • I think $10/hr is good...unless she has taken CPR and first aid classes (many times offered as a babysitting class at a rec center) then I might pay her $13/hour.  That's the going rate here, and since we typically have one of LO's teachers babysit,
