My 16 month old son has been having some very bad stranger/separation anxiety lately. My question is that I have a babyshower to go to Saturday and I'm not sure if I should take him with or leave him with grandma. I know he would've very uncomfortable around all those people especially because they will all be trying to talk to him and play with him. But if I brought him would this help with his anxiety or is this something they just have to get over?
He does good in public when we are out shopping but if we go to someone's house who he doesn't know very well or even if someone comes to our house he just has a complete meltdown.

Re: Stranger anxiety
I wouldn't bring him unless the invitation specifically said children are welcome. I wouldn't want someone bringing their child to my baby shower if I didn't offer.
As far as the anxiety, it's just something they need to get over. My DD is 14 1/2
I agree with the others...leave him at home this time.
And I totally understand where you are at...I have been having issues with this too. We have been going to the little play area in our local mall since it has been kind of chilly
