Magee office in Franklin, PA

Is anyone from the Venango County area and has had experience with the doctors who deliver for UPMC Northwest? I am really trying to find a decent hospital in the area but I am getting so discouraged! I want a natural birth and have been reading a lot about the best way to ensure that I actually follow through with my birth plan, and I really want to find a hospital that is "natural birth-friendly". Any insight into area hospitals would be appreciated, because I am fairly new to the area and haven't had any personal experience with any hospitals around here. Thanks!

    My RE, Dr. Collins works for Magee and goes to the Franklin office. He is excellent!

    I live in Venango county. I actually delivered my 2yo at Titusville hospital (Crawford county) because UPMC didn't take our insurance at the time. You won't find a hospital in this area that is natural-birth friendly, though. I've gotten several recommendations for Dr. Matson, an OBGYN who practices at UPMC Northwest with offices in Clarion, because he's very laid back. He would probably be your best choice for a natural birth, but when you actually deliver at the hospital, you get whichever OB is working in the unit that night. My suggestion would be to see Dr. Matson, come up with a birth plan that includes your natural birth wishes, and have Dr. Matson sign off on them. The on-call OB will be more likely to listen to your wishes if your OB has approved your birth plan.
