More baby shower drama long

I am very grateful that my MIL and BFF want to throw me a baby shower, but they are stressing me out to the point where I wish they wouldn't.

The issue is they want to throw a coed shower at my house on my birthday. We just moved into DH's grandparents former home with my BIL and his Great Dane "puppy" a few months ago.

The house is small, the yard is overgrown with weeds since it wasn't taken care of. The rooms are filled with grandparent's knickknacks and outdated furniture. Add our funiture and my BIL's furniture and you can imagine what the place looks like. I'm stressing trying to clear out space for a baby much less prepping the house to accommodate guests. The house hasn't been updated since the 70's. We want to update and paint but with the baby coming these changes are going to take time.

My DH's parents divorced when he was little. We live in his Dad's parent's home not my MIL's family. The house will barely fit my MIL's family let alone any friends. My family lives out of state and won't be able to make it. My BFF is also out of state, but she's copiloting the shower doing all of the invitations, planning, and hand making decor. She will be flying in and staying with me.

My MIL has a gorgeous house with a big backyard and pool. She didn't want it at her place because she didn't want to dirty her carpets? That's totally fine, she doesn't have to host the shower at her place, but when they told me that I needed to choose the venue, I suggested a park and they insist it be at my home?

So now I'm stressing about getting my house ready to host 20 people on my birthday, work my 50 hour per week job, and get the baby room ready.

Thank God for my DH and BIL who are dedicating their weekends to get the yard ready and helping to pack stuff up.

Ok. Vent over. I'm sure it will be wonderful. We will get through this.

    Decline the shower if you are too stressed out. If they want to host there then I think you are well within your rights to request help preparing/cleaning the home prior to the event. Have you tried asking for help?

    I feel for you hun my MIL is doing all she can to drive me insane she has never liked me no matter how hard i try and be nice, she is old world Italian. I'm not knocking Italians at all i love my husband and his moms and dads family likes me his dad is

    To my MIL's credit, she has offered her help to get the place ready. My DH and BIL are also helping. I probably just need to relax and know that the house won't be exactly what I would prefer it to be for guests. I thought about declining or asking the

    I'd just sit back and let it all go. Hopefully they will help clean everything up. If not, I'm sure everyone knows you all just moved in and they'll understand:)
