Preface: I work at Winn Dixie in the cash office/cashier lead. Winn Dixie=grocery storeYesterday at work, three EMT guys came in. As they were checking out at the first register, another gentleman came in. He was probably in his 40s and was of another ethnicity/culture. He had a buggy full of fairly large, all black duffle bags. He came to me at the counter and said he was traveling and needed to use our scale to weigh his bags. People do this often so I thought nothing of it and told him it was no problem, go ahead.nbsp;Then I went to register one only a few feet away to help bag for the EMT guys. I overheard them saying things like "Better watch him..what's in the bag? A bomb?" etc, etcThey finished their order and went outside. Then the gentleman with the bags finished weighing all of them there were at least 5 and left also. A coworker heard what the EMT guys were saying and was PISSED. She was saying how racist they were and how everyone overreacts and needs to mind their own business. Well, I look outside a few minutes later and a cop was outside with the gentleman. He had his trunk open and all the duffle bags were visible. I'm assuming someone called the cops probably the EMT guys because no one else in the store paid any attention to it.So, who was right? Would you have called racism or would you called the police? Part of me feels like, well they were quick to judge. On the other hand, had it been something bad i.e., a bomb I feel like an idiot for not even noticing or paying close attention, KWIM?ETA: the cop and the gentleman left after about 3040 minutes of talking outside...I'm assuming all was fine since he wasnt arrested or anything like that.nbsp;
