Does LO have a "security item"?

Does your LO have a security item?  If so, at what age did they become attached to it?

DS1 didn't find something until about 16 months.  DS2 still doesn't have anything.

Re: Does LO have a "security item"?

  • We purposely put the same thing in their beds when they were still babies to attach themselves to them. I would rather they cling to a lovey than a bottle, thumb, pacifier, or me. Both my kids love their lovies and they help them fall back asleep in the m

  • Nope, despite my best efforts to get him attached to something he doesn't seem at all interested. Anytime I put anything in his crib he chucks it out before going to sleep. He will be in sleep sacks until he's 10 lol

  • My kids have security blankets. Luckily they are not too attached, they will usually give them up after breakfast. DS started getting attached around 12 months; DD was probably around the same age.

  • Yes, my LO has a teddy bear that my brother gave her on the day she was born when he came to visit in the hospital. She cuddles it all night long and at every nap and when ever she is feeling upset she goes into her room to try and get him out of the crib

  • DD1 never really did. She went through a few phases of sleeping with certain stuffed animals/dolls, and I tried to get her attached to a special blanket, but she just wasn't interested.

DD2, however, has a whole entourage. She has a blanket, gir

  • Yes, DS has a wubbanub pacifier and a lovey.  He has about 5 different lovies, but there is one very special lovey and only that one will do.

I tried taking away the pacificier and it was pretty easy.  Except it took him about 2 minutes

Both of my kids have blankets that they are very attached to. DD loves the Aden+Anais blankets and drags them around the house. DS has a fleece type blanket that he has to sleep with.

  • My daughter have a hippo lovie that she loves to pieces and sleeps better with it.  It doesn't leave the house, but she does carry it around with her while at home. She's funny with it.  I will hear her over the monitor some night calling "

  • My son always loved holding on his burp clothes. He was never too attached to bottles or pacifiers, thankfully! I always made sure he had a burp cloth with him though and made sure I had plenty of clean ones in case I had to switch it out if one got dirty
  • His wubanub pacifier. We've tried to put other items in his crib as a sort of replacement and he just ignores them. He wants that wubi. He only gets it at bed time at this point though, which he is fine with. But when he sees it he generally wants it and

  • Nope - he has a few things here and there that he likes, but nothing that's the end of the world if we're without it.

He has a Mickey Mouse tub toy that stays in the car, and he sometimes gets distraught if he drops it or can't find it, but that'

  • Yes and I wish he'd pick something else :) He is very attached to a sweater vest from his Easter outfit...carries it around everywhere and sleeps with it. I so wish it was a teddy bear or blanket...but what can you do.
