Ok so my DD is 14 weeks. So far we have basically nursed to sleep or occasional rocking or swing. If I put her down drowsy it is milk drunk and she is out quickly. I know we need to start thinking about letting her self soothe and I am a wussy and need to know how that goes. I can't listen to her even just lightly fuss without going crazy! Pathetic, I know. I keep telling myself just to leave her be but I can't. So tell me, how long did your LO stay awake before learning to sleep on their own? Did they cry, and for how long? She escalates if I do the shush pat thing. Usually she just gets louder until upset and I cave in and pick her up and rock her and then she is out and I just negated everything I just did : help! :
Re: Self Soothing
We were not successful in this until LO was about 5.5 months...we had a few rough days where we tried it at 5 months, but I guess it was too early because it didn't work (he just cried). So I started sitting in the room with him for naps until he fell

Our IVF miracle, Baby Boy M, arrived on 11/8/2012!
I am one of the few lucky ones who's baby has always put himself to sleep. He sucks his binky or thumb and within a half hour max, he out.
He will/can also sleep anywhere.
